Pure Bred Arabs

Vlacq Lorindol 1987

By Shah Shadow, Out of Brindisi

Winner of many championships in youngstock classes, including first at Haydock Park AHS, and shown lightly under saddle. Shah's first pure bred daughter, she is rather special to us; an excellent brood mare (dam of seven pure bred arabs and three anglo arabs to date).

We have a pure bred daughter, and two anglo daughters, all of whom are producing impressive foals too. Dolly's full sister, Vlacq Gilfae, (owned by Gail Andrews) has been very successful in the endurance world.
Full brother Vlacq Aros, (retained by the stud, or rather by Laura who has an obvious soft spot for this chap!), had a successful show career under saddle and has proven to be a versatile ridden horse, now competing in Western classes.

Vlacq Vilya 1988 - 2007

By Salamanca, Out of Marakesh

Consistent winner in youngstock classes, including numerous championships, she is of classic Crabbet type.
Her stock include tall Anglos by Hipu Who and pure breds by Vlacq Khazad (Vlacq Majid & Vlacq Quadifa Kayal). Sadly lost in 2007, Laura retains her Anglo daughter as her riding horse and future broodmare

Quarida 1996

By Shaikh Al Kuran, Out of Mel Queda

Selected addition to the Vlacq brood mare band as an infusion of Spanish / Egyptian blood, she had an exemplary novice ridden season in 2005, including many championships and open supreme championships, even competing at AHS National Champs in the Western Pleasure classes with Laura. Her first foal in 2006 was a tall and classy colt by Shah Shadow who remains at Vlacq.

Kristal Manika 1998

By Manavah, Out of Kristal Rose

The second 'new wife' selected for the boys (though we definitley weren't going to have greys!), Manika is almost 87% Crabbet. Her engaging personality coupled with strength and correctness make her suitable for all 3 purebred chaps! When she arrived at the yard, in season in June 2006, it was Kaz who finally got the girl. Her tall filly foal did not disappoint so we have repeated this marriage. Her second (a very smart colt) has joined Norton Arabians as their future stallion.

Vlacq Calacirya 1999

By Vlacq Khazad. Out of Vlacq Lorindol

Laura's clear favourite, this mare embodies class and poise. Her adoring nature and femininity make her a superb mother and a joy to have around. She was lightly but successfully shown in 2006 while taking a break from motherhood. All 3 of her Princeton Mariner colts are exceptionally typey and elegant; her 4 year old remains at Vlacq and may be offered for sale, while her first (Vlacq Hamra Ishara) joined Sonya Scott's yard where he was successful in hand, and is to contest ridden classes and dressage this year. What a handsome ridden arab he will be! After an eventful 2008 foaling darling Cal has now retired from breeding. Her charming final colt is special for many reasons and boy, does he know it!

 Vlacq Calacirya

Lady Valentine 1980-2007

By Luxor, Out of Lady of Wood Green

One of our old ladies who has produced some of the stud's best ridden performance arabs. Truly versatile under saddle she was an elegant and demuire ridden show horse in her younger days with an appetite for jumping. Her pure bred offspring (to Shah Shadow, Vlacq Khazad and Shajihr) all seem to have inherited their mother's intelligence and versatility as show horses and endurance stars. Julie Kendal's Vlacq Alatar (by Shajihr) is embarking upon his endurance career path, as is Vlacq Halmir (by Vlacq Khazad) who raced briefly with Sam Davidson. A striking dark bay Shajihr daughter, Vlacq Freca, joined a North Wales stud to breed half arabian coloureds - a marriage which produced a very impressive colt (who stood 2nd at CHAPS UK finals as a yearling).

Amirat Al Jabal 1981-2007

By Gerwazy, Out of Honey Pot - Favourite ridden horse of the stud founder

Even at her passing, this half Polish grey mare, 'handsome is as handsome does', was still one of the best moving and most charismatic mares at Vlacq, never failing to stand out from the herd. She was raced, had been shown under saddle, competed in Western Pleasure classes and produced 8 foals (purebreds and anglos) for Sue and was always her mount of choice for Hunt Rides; no chance of growing old gracefully, the pair were known to take on fences that frighten the local hunt followers and set a swift pace for meer youngsters to keep up! Vlacq retain one purebred daughter, Vlacq Keonwe while her siblings and half siblings forge their way under saddle.

Indian Dara 1991

By Crystal Sharade, Out of Rossindara

Kindly on loan to Vlacq from Dionne Tandy, she is well known to us as one of Hipu Who's visiting mares. Her Anglo's are outstanding, inheriting her big Crabbet movement. Laura has retained her 2006 bay filly to show. She gave Vlacq their first coloured foal in 2007 - a colt by American Paint Horse, Barmount Boogie, whom has been attracting a lot of attention on the circuit this season. The Tandy's retain the Anglo stallion Kamal Ibn Dara, now 5, and produced by Dave Froggett to many wins in his debut season.

Dara returns to the Tandy family this spring but we are very grateful for allowing her to holiday here in Wales

Vlacq Keonwe 1996

By Vlacq Khazad, Out of Amirat Al Jabal

A compact and powerful mare who remained at Vlacq due to an injury blighting her sale as a yearling. Her maternal instincts are second to none and her purebred offspring by both Shah Shadow and, latterly, Princeton Mariner are real show-offs with a captivating curiosity.

Kiki now resides at Chapel Lane Arabians in the Midlands and will hopefully produce a Princeton Mariner baby for Natalie in 2009!
